Aboriginal Land Council
the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council or a Local Aboriginal Land Council
Aboriginal owners
Aboriginal persons whose names are entered on the Register of Aboriginal Owners because of the persons' cultural association with particular land
Aboriginal person
a person who:
(a) is a member of the Aboriginal race of Australia, and
(b) identifies as an Aboriginal person, and
(c) is accepted by the Aboriginal community as an Aboriginal person.
Adult Aboriginal person
an Aboriginal person who has attained the age of 18 years

Community, land and business plan
A plan prepared by a LALC and approved under Part 5, Division 6, or by NSWALC under Part 7, Division 5 of the Act; a plan prepared by an Aboriginal Land Council that addresses its objectives and strategies for the future, including management of land, businesses, assets, investments, cultural heritage and community benefits.
Councillor
member of the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. Each Councillor represents a Region and is elected by the voting members of Local Aboriginal Land Councils in that Region (see Regions)

LALC
Local Aboriginal Land Council
Model code of conduct
(see Code of conduct). The model code of conduct for LALCs is in Schedule 5 of the Regulation. It sets out the standard of conduct and ethical behaviour required for land council Board members and staff.
The model code of conduct applies to all land councils unless a land council has submitted its own code of conduct to the Registrar and it has been approved.
Model rules
(see Rules) The model rules for LALCs are in Schedule 2 of the Regulation. The model rules set out the requirements that must be followed by local land councils in relation to the governance and functioning of the council.
The model rules apply to all land councils unless the land council has submitted its own rules to the Registrar and they have been approved.
